Ashray Akruti NGO is a member of the World Hearing Forum which is recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its initiatives towards improving the lives of children with disabilities from marginalized sections of society. The organization strongly believes in the potential of people with disabilities and helps them lead a life of dignity as equal citizens with equitable access to opportunities and services. Ashray Akruti supports special education and rehabilitation services for children with disabilities and provides ear and hearing screening, diagnosis, and management through outreach programs.
WEST Program (Women Empowerment through Sign language and Technology)
In 2023, Unisys partnered with Ashray Akruti to train 50 women from underprivileged families to work as sign language interpreters with hearing-impaired communities. As a result, this program helps to create job opportunities, builds relationships for the deaf community, and creates awareness of Indian sign language.
