David Chadwick is the Director for Identity and Biometrics for Unisys.
David has overall responsibility for Unisys' identity and biometric-related initiatives globally. This includes R&D, sales, consulting and delivery activities.
Based in Canberra, Australia, he draws on a background that spans law enforcement, immigration, passports and a broad ICT experience to understand the problems, challenges and processes that private and public sector agencies operate within to help develop innovative and workable solutions around identity management.
David has more than 18 years' law enforcement, and 12 years of federal government experience, with the past 14 years being specifically focused on identity and biometrics.
Before joining Unisys, David developed innovative biometric and identity solutions and capabilities for the Australian Government including:
- Project Delivery Director for the Facial Verification Service capability in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, connecting to the National Facial Biometric Matching Capability;
- Senior Responsible Officer for the development of the next generation passport in the Australian Passport Office
- Australian lead for the development of the digital passport concept in the ICAO New Technology Working Group
- Led the development of the first complete Digital Strategy for the Dept. of Immigration and Border Protection.
He is a member of several international standards and working groups for passports, biometrics and air travel facilitation, including ISO SubCommittee 37 (Biometrics) and ISO SubCommittee 17 Working Group 3 (eMRTDs).
He has been an invited keynote speaker at numerous international conferences, and was one of the experts who helped to develop the latest international facial capture standards (ISO 39794-5).
David is an IEEE Certified Biometrics Professional and a long term member of the Biometrics Institute.
