2021 Digital Workplace Insights™
Seeking digital and experience parity to support the hybrid workforce
In 2020, almost 40% of the global workforce was forced to shift to remote work almost overnight. Because remote work models were haphazardly built from necessity rather than an intentional design, employees often encountered challenges when using corporate technology tools that were not optimized to support this new way of working. The major transition threw into sharp focus the importance of the employee experience in the digital workplace.
Unisys’ 2021 Digital Workplace Insights survey, developed in partnership with IDC, confirmed that the hybrid workforce – employees working remotely, on-site, in the field or any combination of the three – is here to stay. The findings reinforced that temporary changes organizations made in 2020 must become permanent going forward. Key insights include:
- Organizations everywhere must prioritize enhancing the employee experiences to drive higher productivity, collaboration and better customer outcomes.
- To optimize the employee experience of their hybrid workforce, employers should focus on providing employees with not only digital parity but also experience parity.
- Organizations that enable agile ways of working to drive innovation anytime, anywhere and on any device, will be more successful in retaining employees in a competitive marketplace.
Unisys and IDC surveyed more than 1,100 business leaders and employees across 15 countries – Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, the U.K. and the United States.
