Unisys Philippines Expands Local Team and Starts Civil Registry System Work for the Philippine Government
More than 1,100 Philippine Statistics Authority service contractors join Unisys as employees; construction of new customer service facility begins
MANILA, Philippines, February 27, 2017 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced two major milestones related to its work with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to design and operate phase 2 of its Civil Registry System modernization project. Unisys has hired more than 1,100 former PSA service contractors as employees and officially started construction of a purpose-built customer service facility.
Under the 12-year contract, signed in September 2016, Unisys is delivering digital government services to modernize the Civil Registry System and manage the end-to-end process to originate, authenticate, secure and issue civil registry documents such as birth certificates to citizens. Unisys is leading a Public-Private Partnership to design, develop, operate and maintain the modernized system.
Dr. Lisa Grace S Bersales, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General, Philippine Statistics Authority, marked the start of construction today at an official ground breaking ceremony. "This purpose-built facility demonstrates the clear benefit of engaging Unisys in a Public Private Partnership to modernise the processes and systems needed to provide citizens with quick and easy access to birth, marriage and death certificates."
Ninety five percent of PSA service contractors offered employment with Unisys have accepted, and will move to Unisys as employees from 5 March 2017.
