Unisys-led Consortium Wins Contracts to Enhance Border Control and Data Security for European Union

Unisys and partners sign new agreements designed to help European Union countries better manage their borders and improve security of critical data

Brussels, Belgium, October 22, 2015Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced that its subsidiary in Belgium has been awarded two contracts making the company eligible to provide a range of services to the European Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA).

Under the four-year framework contracts, aimed at helping European Union (EU) countries better protect their borders and their critical data, Unisys will lead Consortium U2, with partner UniSystems, to offer services to the agency to fulfill its mandate to provide operational management and evolve critical IT systems for internal security, border management and asylum management in EU.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Unisys consortium will also offer IT consulting services in France, Estonia and Belgium and will assist the agency with project management and technical consulting services for future European security projects. The total value of the two contract lots in which Unisys was selected is up to approximately €47 million (approximately US$53 million).

eu-LISA was set up by the European Commission in December 2012 to develop information systems in the areas of freedom, security and justice and to support EU policy on asylum, migration and border management. The agency is headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia, and its operational management is carried out in Strasbourg, France. It also has a site in Sankt Johann im Pongau, Austria, and offices in Brussels.

Krum Garkov, executive director, eu-LISA, said, "It is important for eu-LISA to partner with a company that has experience and understands our environment and context, as well as the challenges that come with the provisioning of 24 x 7 services for internal security of the EU. Unisys has a strong track record of providing services for the EU in the area of home affairs and border control, so it gives us confidence that we've picked a reliable partner."

"Our experience protecting borders around the world has given us unique insights and solutions to address the increasingly complex issues surrounding border security," said Mark Forman, global head of Unisys public sector, "We're looking forward to working with eu-LISA to provide the resources and equipment it needs to manage borders and increase data security across Europe."

Consortium U2 competed against six other consortia to provide IT support for the agency's Strasbourg and Tallinn sites and its offices in Brussels. Consortium U2 won Lot 1, to provide ICT support in Strasbourg and Brussels, and was second place for Lot 2, to provide ICT support in Tallinn.
