Philadelphia Section of IEEE Honors Unisys with Corporate Innovation Award

Professional association of engineers recognizes Unisys' advanced initiatives in enterprise IT

BLUE BELL, Pa., April 2, 2015 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that the company has received the 2015 Corporate Innovation Award from the Philadelphia, Pa. Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

Jim Thompson, chief engineer and vice president, Engineering and Supply Chain, Unisys, accepted the award at the Philadelphia Section's Annual Awards Banquet and Gala on March 28.

The award recognizes Unisys' long record of developing solutions to meet enterprise clients' requirements for mission-critical information technology, including;

  • The evolving architecture of Unisys' flagship ClearPath high-end systems, which Unisys has transitioned from proprietary processor technology to Intel processors without sacrificing the ClearPath systems' customarily high performance for mission-critical applications;
  • The software-based secure partitioning (s‑Par®) and fabric computing components engineered into the ClearPath architecture, which eliminate competition for resources among applications and speed up communications among applications across a software-defined network;
  • The extension of the s-Par and fabric technology into the Forward! by Unisys™ enterprise computing platform, designed for a new generation of mission-critical applications such as data center consolidation, Unix-to-Linux migration, cloud computing and big-data analytics;
  • Unisys Stealth™, which uses advanced data protection and encryption technologies to help organizations prevent insider and external cyber-attacks by rendering devices, data and end users undetectable on the network.

The Philadelphia Section of IEEE also recognized Unisys Consulting Engineer Emilio Salgueiro with the Section Member award for his work in enriching the range of professional activities in which section members can participate.

"We appreciate IEEE's longstanding support of Unisys' work and this gratifying recognition of leading-edge solution initiatives that benefit our clients," said Thompson, who oversees Unisys product engineering and guided the evolution of the ClearPath architecture and the Forward! platform. "We are committed to building on Unisys' rich engineering heritage to continue delivering new solutions that enable clients to overcome their continually evolving business challenges."
