Hershey Selects Unisys for IT Services to Support Strategic Expansion in Brazil
Decision is part of global confectionery leader's strategy to expand its business in a market projected to reach $4 billion by 2019
São Paulo, October 29, 2015 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced that its Brazilian subsidiary has signed a contract with Hershey, a world-leading manufacturer of chocolate and confectionery products and a new Unisys client, to provide an extensive set of IT services that support the company's operations in Brazil.
The Unisys services will be critical in supporting the concerted initiative Hershey has recently undertaken to grow its presence in the steadily expanding Brazilian chocolate market. Eurominitor International estimates that the market reached BRL12.6 billion (US$3 billion) in sales in 2014, and expects it to grow at an annual rate of 6 percent, reaching BRL17 billion (US$4 billion) by 2019.
Signed in the third quarter of 2015, the 60-month agreement includes support for several Hershey operations in Brazil, including the company's plant in São Roque (São Paulo State), its distribution center in Guarulhos and its corporate office in São Paulo.
Under the contract, Unisys will provide end-user support for all employees at the three Hershey sites in Brazil, field services, server environment monitoring and data center management with a contingency plan for disaster recovery. Unisys can use infrastructure from its partner Ascenty for the data-center services.
