VicRoads Teams with Unisys to Transform the Workplace into a Flexible, Collaborative and Productive Work Environment
Flexible, scalable services empower VicRoads digital workforce by delivering a hybrid cloud-based, mobile digital workspace secured by Unisys Stealth® micro-segmentation
Melbourne, 11 October 2017 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that VicRoads has awarded a contract to provide state-of-the-art Digital Workspace Services to increase employee effectiveness and collaboration across the agency's approximately 3,500-employee workforce.
VicRoads – a new client for Unisys – plans, develops and manages the arterial road network and delivers road safety initiatives and customer-focused registration and licensing services for Victoria, the second most populous state in Australia.
"Victoria is growing rapidly with a million more people to call Victoria home in the next 10 years. VicRoads is based across Victoria with 3500 person workforce. We want to be close to the communities we serve and need technology that supports a large and dispersed workforce," said Dr Dale Andrea, VicRoads' Chief Information Officer. "We selected Unisys to be our technology partner for infrastructure and digital workplace services not just because of the comprehensive offering but because they understood how we were rapidly transforming our workplace culture and the need to have a truly modern, flexible and collaborative workplace enabling us to deliver the innovative services that Victorians want."
Under the seven-year contract, Unisys will modernise VicRoads' workplace using Workspace Productivity as a Service (WPaaS) based on Microsoft Office 365 productivity software and services, delivering innovative workforce productivity capabilities including integrated communications such as Skype for Business Voice-over-IP, instant messaging and conferencing.
Lysandra Schmutter, vice president Public Sector, Unisys Asia Pacific said: "We are helping VicRoads transform how the agency works by providing modern workplace technology services and tools to support enhanced productivity, mobility and collaboration. Such an environment promotes the creative and innovative thinking required to develop the citizen services and infrastructure to keep up with the changes in how we use our roads."
As part of the engagement, Unisys will transform VicRoads' current workplace infrastructure by migrating the existing on-premise data centre to a secure certified hybrid cloud environment, providing flexible on-demand services that can be quickly and easily scaled to meet the agency's business needs. The WPaaS platform is delivered through both a private cloud, to meet the security and resilience requirements for sensitive information and systems, and through Microsoft Azure for all other workloads. The hybrid cloud will be managed by a single framework, the Unisys Cloud Management Platform, to make it easy to manage and migrate workloads between the different cloud environments as requirements change.
Information in the hybrid cloud will be protected using Unisys Stealth(core), a software-defined security solution that lowers risks by using identity-based, micro-segmentation techniques and encryption to create segments within an organisation where only authorised users can access information, while those without authorisation cannot even see that those endpoints exist. The entire platform will be securely managed and monitored by a 24x7 managed security service.
Mark Forman, vice president of the global Public Sector business at Unisys, said: "Unisys is committed to helping government agencies use technology and leading practices to meet citizen needs and address new challenges. VicRoads has a comprehensive strategy for reducing accidents, improving the environment and adapting to citizen and business needs in the digital economy. By proactively transforming their workplace, VicRoads is creating an environment to foster the innovation and operating capabilities needed to deliver on its strategy. We are excited to be selected as VicRoads' partner for modernisation."

Forward-Looking Statement
Any statements contained in this release that are not historical facts are forward-looking statements as defined in the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act of 1995. All forward-looking statements rely on assumptions and are subject to various risks and uncertainties that could cause actual results to differ materially from expectations. In particular, the contract is non-exclusive, VicRoads may appoint other suppliers to provide similar or substitute services and the estimated value of the contract is based on various assumptions concerning the volume of VicRoads' usage of the services and annual inflation adjustment. Because VicRoads' usage of the services may be lower than is forecast and because VicRoads also has the option to terminate the contract prior to the expiry of the seven-year term, the estimated value of the contract is not guaranteed. Additional discussion of factors that could affect Unisys future results is contained in periodic filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
