Unisys to Provide Secure IT Equipment and Services to U.S. Census Bureau for Accurate and Efficient 2020 Census

Under $102 million contract, company will provide its industry-leading digital transformation solutions to support hundreds of Census Bureau field offices throughout the U.S.

RESTON, Va., March 28, 2019Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) announced today that it was awarded a contract by the U.S. Census Bureau to provide secure IT infrastructure support services for thousands of remote workers, as well as the bureau's workforce in 248 local offices and six regional centers, two paper data capture sites and five island area offices.

Under the contract, valued at approximately $102 million, Unisys will provide all IT equipment, logistics, maintenance and other services for Census Bureau remote workers in support of the upcoming 2020 Census, including services and equipment for data capture and scanning and processing of millions of census reply forms. Unisys will also handle the troubleshooting, replacement, repair, installation, configuration, patching and decommissioning of IT equipment. Unisys' secure supply chain management process enables security throughout the program lifecycle.

In addition, Unisys will provide digital services for workers at local and regional Census Bureau offices as well as remote support for mobile workers who travel throughout the country. Through this contract, Unisys will enable Census Bureau staff to quickly and securely provide critical services for the nation accurately and on time.

The contract, awarded in the third quarter of 2018, includes a five-month base period followed by three consecutive one-year option periods. It allows the Census Bureau to leverage Unisys industry-leading managed services offerings.

Unisys has a long history supporting the Census Bureau, dating back to when a Unisys computer tabulated the 1950 census. More recently, Unisys provided secure IT support for the census in 2000 and again in 2010.

"Our decades-long partnership with the Census Bureau and leadership in IT security uniquely positioned Unisys to deliver low-risk program execution due to our experience and historical knowledge of the project's complex logistics requirements," said Melissa Carson, group vice president, civilian agencies, Unisys Federal. "As technology evolves and Census Bureau workers become more mobile, we can provide the means to allow them to bring technology into the field for a more efficient and cost-effective census."
