Florida's New Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center Chooses Unisys To Web-Enable Guest Rooms And Convention Facility
Unisys InRoom Connect hospitality solution, network integration services give guests high-speed Internet access and create significant new technology revenue opportunities for resort
BLUE BELL, Pa., April 22, 2002 – In today's constantly changing business landscape, the imperative to stay "connected" has never been greater. Nowhere is this more important than for business travelers who need high-speed connections to access corporate networks and run increasingly complex business applications from remote locations. Gaylord Entertainment Company, (NYSE: GET), a leader in the hospitality and entertainment industry, has addressed this demand by installing the InRoom Connect solution from Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) in all 1,400-guest rooms and over 50 meeting rooms at its new, state-of-the-art Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Florida.
The Unisys InRoom Connect solution provides Gaylord Palms guests and meeting participants with high-speed Internet access through their own laptops to a variety of Internet services just as easily and as quickly as from their offices. The Internet connections, through Cisco Systems Ethernet ports, enable users to take advantage of a powerful broadband network based on Cisco's advanced Building Broadband Service Manager (BBSM) and Cisco Catalyst high speed switches to access business applications and leisure services.
Unisys network engineers completed the installation at the Orlando area mega-resort -- which covers 65 acres and features 400,000 square feet of meeting and convention space -- in just over four weeks.
