Unisys Awarded Department of Homeland Security Managed Services ContractUnisys to continue working with DHS to provide a secure, customer service-oriented environment for its operations
BLUE BELL, Pa., January 4, 2006 – Unisys Corp. (NYSE: UIS) today announced that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded the company a “bridge” contract to continue building, securing and managing the information technology infrastructure for TSA, and for DHS headquarters facility. Unisys services will help DHS continue to secure the safe transport of people and cargo throughout the United States. The contract is an indefinite delivery-indefinite quantity contract with a term of one base year with two one-year options which are exercisable at the discretion of the government. The government’s estimated value of the base year is $308 million ($265 million for TSA and $43 million for DHS). The total ceiling value of the three-year period is no more than $750 million.
This contract, which supports Unisys strategy to deliver secure business operations to its clients, will serve as a “bridge” between services from the previous Information Technology Managed Services (ITMS) contract, which will expire on January 10, 2006, and DHS’s implementation of a department-wide business IT solution. The award extends Unisys original three-year ITMS program to provide continuity of information technology operations to maintain both TSA’s and DHS’s mission capabilities, which are critical to the agencies’ efforts to provide security for passengers on all modes of transportation. Work under the new contract began January 1, 2006.
Unisys and its partners will provide core managed services, such as service/help desk support, maintenance, IT security services and remote network management. Additionally, Unisys will continue hosting applications, provide engineering support and manage infrastructure deployment and implementation.
“Fundamental to securing our homeland is safeguarding the U.S. transportation system and its passengers,” said Greg Baroni, president, Unisys Global Public Sector. “Unisys is proud to continue its support of DHS and TSA in fulfilling the mission for which they were established. We are committed to continue delivering managed services that help provide secure operations for the nation’s aviation system and enhanced security for travelers and transport providers.” About Unisys Unisys is a worldwide information technology services and solutions company.
