You can’t just put security measures in place, then walk away and forget about it. To protect your computing assets, security has to be maintained and monitored – all of the time. And, you have to regularly reevaluate your environment since corporate IT assets, security policies and threats change over time.

Security Center

To have effective security, you need an effective tool for defining and examining your security configuration. Security Center helps you manage MCP security and implement your security policies. It’s also useful for periodically examining your security configuration to verify that previous choices still apply.

Security Center is used for security configuration:

• MCP security policy management
• MCP file access management
• MCP cryptographic services
• MCP Kerberos security
• MCP user account administration

Security Center also provides the LOCUM Safe Survey Client tool for security assessment.

Graphical User Interface

With the easy-to-use graphical interface, you can browse your security configuration, create reports and make individual changes. End users can take advantage of this tool to view their own user records, display lists of controlled interfaces, create access control records (ACRs) and attach them to the objects they own.

Your security officers and administrators can use the graphical user interface to perform administration and reporting for the entire MCP security environment.

Command Line Interface

MCP also has the MAKEUSER application, which provides a command line interface. With it you can make individual updates and define and apply a related group of changes.

User Empowerment

End users can also use these tools to administer security for the objects they own. This empowers the owners and relieves your security administrator of the tedium of making those changes for myriad object owners.
