Unisys Names Enterprise Server Industry Veteran Richard Marcello to Lead Technology Business
BLUE BELL, Pa., June 4, 2007 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that Richard Marcello has joined the company as president, Systems & Technology. In this role he will report to Unisys President and CEO Joe McGrath.
Marcello will lead development, production, sales, services and marketing for Unisys enterprise servers and related software and technologies. Building on Unisys heritage of designing and developing mission-critical computing technologies, Marcello will drive the company’s ongoing transition of its enterprise server families to a common, virtualized platform architecture. The next-generation Unisys enterprise server architecture, announced in 2006, is based on advanced Intel multi-core processor technology and is designed to deliver customers extraordinary levels of computing power, scalability, economy, and openness.
“Rich brings Unisys an exceptionally strong understanding of world-class enterprise technology and the customer requirements that drive it,” said McGrath. “I am certain that his expertise will benefit customers greatly as Unisys develops and delivers innovative next-generation enterprise server solutions that help them extend their existing IT investment while advancing their business strategy.”
Prior to joining Unisys, Marcello was senior vice president and general manager of the multibillion-dollar Business Critical Servers product line at HP. In that role he was responsible for developing, manufacturing, selling and servicing Unix and high-end server technology systems while driving key account sales, leading advanced engineering groups and building a new business culture.
Before he joined HP, Marcello held leadership roles in the technology businesses at Compaq and Digital Equipment Corporation.
“I’m tremendously excited to lead a business with a longstanding record of excellence in delivering enterprise server solutions that help clients meet their most demanding, mission-critical requirements,” said Marcello. “I believe strongly that close contact and communication with customers are key to understanding enterprise technology requirements. I intend to make customer input a driving force in Unisys new direction in enterprise servers.”
Marcello succeeds Leo C. Daiuto, who will be retiring from Unisys. He has had a distinguished 39-year career at the company.
