Open Data Access UniAccessThe UniAccesss ODBC Server from Applied Information Sciences Inc. provides SQL and ODBC Access to Enterprise Relational Database Server for ClearPath OS 2200 data, including Enterprise Application Environment (formerly LINCII) databases. UniAccess ODBC Server allows a variety of Windows based client tools and applications to interoperate with Relational Database Server data.
Utilizing the ClearPath OS 2200 server as an enterprise server, client applications and tools can access and update Relational Database Server databases and repository information through Microsoft Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) requests. The ODBC application program interface (API) includes calls for structured query language (SQL) access to data and Service Provider Interfaces (SPI) to repository information. Together, these functions allow point-and-click application development and data access.
UniAccess is a source-code based, licensed implementation of the Sybase Open Client/Open Server architecture, which Microsoft has also licensed as the foundation of its own interoperability architecture offerings. Using this architecture as a base, UniAccess uses the client-based Microsoft ODBC Driver manager to access the UniAccess ODBC Driver, which in turn talks to the UniAccess ODBC Server. The UniAccess ODBC Server accepts SQL language requests from any tool or application through the Microsoft DB-Library and Sybase Open Client APIs.
A development copy of the UniAccess ODBC Server is included in the Integrated Operating Environment (IOE) of ClearPath and ClearPath Plus Servers. This bundled license is designed to support prototyping of applications and limits throughput to two transactions per second (TPS). Upgrade licenses are available, supporting 5 TPS, 10 TPS or unlimited use.
