Open Data Access JDBC for ClearPath MCPJDBC for ClearPath MCP enables Java applications running on any server to access Enterprise Database Server (formerly DMSII) databases. This technology allows ClearPath clients to quickly implement new capabilities in a cost effective manner through the reuse of existing ClearPath data assets. This also means that ClearPath assets can participate in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based solutions.
Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) technology is an industry-standard application programming interface (API) that provides cross-DBMS connectivity to a wide range of SQL databases and access to other tabular data sources such as spreadsheets or flat files. With a JDBC technology-enabled driver, you can connect all corporate data from heterogeneous environments.
JDBC technology lets you use the Java programming language to exploit Java capabilities for applications that require access to enterprise data. The JDBC API is a mature technology, enjoying broad industry acceptance as a complete and well-understood API.
JDBC for ClearPath MCP gives Java users a SQL interface. It communicates with a host-based SQL Query Processor for ClearPath MCP to process SQL queries against an Enterprise Database Server database.
This JDBC Driver supports type-2 access for Java applications running on the same MCP server and type-4 access for Java applications accessing Enterprise Database Server data from other operating systems (Windows, Linux, and UNIX). The type-2 driver is fully compliant with the Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.4. The type-4 driver is fully compliant with JDK 1.4 or greater. Both drivers supports connection pooling and advanced Enterprise Database Server functionality. JDBC for ClearPath MCP is included in the Integrated Operating Environment.
