ClearPath for MCP ClearPath Libra Series, Newest Models

ClearPath MCP-based systems give you a highly secure and exceptionally agile environment that is compatible with your MCP-based solutions. A secure Real-Time Infrastructure – centered on Libra systems – offers a robust combination of both mainframe and mainstream capabilities that are unique to these agile Libra platforms.

High-end systems: The Libra Model 690 and Libra Model 680 servers

The ClearPath Libra Model 690 and Libra Model 680 Servers are the most powerful MCP servers available today. There is one key difference between these two servers. The Libra Model 690 server line offers Pay-for-Use business models and metering technology. The Libra Model 680 server line is based on the traditional business model of buying enough performance to handle peak workloads. Capacity on Demand options are available for the non-metered Libra Model 680 Servers.

Libra Model 690 Server

Libra Model 690 Servers are mid-range to high-end servers and are the most agile members in the ClearPath Libra family of servers. The Libra Model 690 Server employs a unique metering technology to measure the processing power delivered by the system. The benefits of this technology are realized by teaming it with our Pay-for-Use business models that let you pay for only the exact amount of processing power you use, as you use it. Our metering and Pay-for-Use functionality leverages the power and capacity of our high-performance CMOS processor technology, highly advanced IO subsystem and Cellular MultiProcessing (CMP) architecture that underpin the Libra Model 690 Server.

Libra Model 680 Server

The Libra Model 680 Server is the newest and most powerful non-metered member of the ClearPath Libra family of servers, the successor to the highly acclaimed ClearPath Libra Model 585 Series. This platform utilizes independent modules containing four Unisys designed CMOS processors. The Libra Model 680 offer an ideal infrastructure that delivers extraordinary power and capacity with these high-performance CMOS processors and a highly advanced IO subsystem. These high-end servers offer the latest in state-of-the-art hardware and software technologies.

Scalability improvements.  The Libra Model 680 has a scalable 16-way partition/image capability that provides major improvements for a single-system image with a 30 percent processor performance improvement and a 20 percent improvement in  IO performance compared with predecessor systems. The Libra Model 680 provides 50 percent more network ports, 33 percent more IO ports for IO connectivity and capacity and twice the memory previously available. The result is an improved growth path through both horizontal and vertical scalability.

Mix-and-match modules.  The Libra Model 680 allows you to mix and match different Libra modules within a single server complex. This unique capability lets you custom build your own system according to your specific business requirements. You can mix high-end MCP CMOS based modules, mid-range MCP modules, Intel modules, different CPU technologies and operating environments – all in a single system. Here are the modules you can combine: Libra Model 690, Libra Model 595, Libra Model 585, Libra Model 580, Libra Model 590, Libra Model 520, Libra Model 300, Windows, Linux and Java.
