U.S. Customs Using Facial Recognition at JFK
U.S. Customs and Border Protection upgrades border security at JFK Airport using Unisys facial recognition software

Secure ID News spotlights the news that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has expanded its use of Unisys’ facial recognition software to JFK Airport in New York. According to the announcement, U.S. citizens and some first-time Visa Waiver Program travelers coming into JFK may have their photo automatically checked against the photo stored on their electronic passport using Unisys’ solution. According to Terry Hartmann, VP of transportation in US and Canada, the new system makes it “a lot more difficult to counterfeit a passport.”
