Unisys and State of Georgia Celebrate Grand Opening of Unisys Augusta Client Service Center

Gov. Nathan Deal, Unisys executives, civic and business leaders inaugurate information technology services facility in historic Augusta Riverwalk

AUGUSTA, Ga., February 1, 2016Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today hosted a ribbon-cutting to mark the grand opening of its client service center here.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal and Unisys Federal President Venkatapathi "PV" Puvvada cut the ribbon and led a roster of speakers, including U.S. Rep. Rick Allen; Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis, Jr.; Henry Ingram, Chairman, Augusta Economic Development Authority; and Chris Carr, Commissioner, Georgia Department of Economic Development.

"Locating our newest U.S. service center in Augusta has proven to be a winning move," said Puvvada. "We've attracted a smart, dedicated local workforce – including many veterans from nearby Fort Gordon – who are providing world-class services every day to clients around the world. We are grateful to Governor Deal and to the state and local partners who have championed our presence in Augusta since the beginning. We look forward to contributing further to the growth of this vibrant community."

On November 3, 2014, Gov. Deal announced that Unisys would locate the new service center in Augusta, potentially creating up to 700 local jobs over a five-year period and establishing Unisys as a major employer in the Augusta area. After operating in temporary quarters, Unisys occupied the 68,000-square-foot service center – part of the Augusta Riverwalk complex in the heart of the city – in October 2015.

"Unisys has made a significant economic impact within the Augusta-Richmond County area in a short time," said Deal. "Georgia is able to provide Unisys with support that strengthens its competitive position in the state and enhances its ability to provide our citizens with high-quality jobs. We are proud to offer a top-ranked business climate that has boosted the technology sector statewide."

Unisys uses the Augusta center to provide IT support services to a range of commercial and government clients, including the Army Enterprise Service Desk program, in which Unisys provides a single point of contact for U.S. Army personnel requiring those services.

Unisys continues to work with the Georgia Department of Labor, Augusta Economic Development Authority and Fort Gordon Cyber Center of Excellence to recruit IT professionals for the client service center.
