Government Computer News published an article by Unisys’ Patrick Doyle on the growing interest in technology innovation among law enforcement agencies. The article, based on the results of an informal survey Unisys undertook at its booth at the recent IACP 2016 conference, asked attendees to rank the importance of a series of technology categories such as social media, video capture and information management modernization. The survey showed that social media was the highest priority for survey respondents, and Doyle’s article discusses how that illustrates the growing importance of social media in law enforcement. The article then looks at how survey respondents rated other technologies, including facial recognition, license plate readers and cybercrime protection.
