The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) employed Unisys ClearPath ePortal Enterprise Solution—a specialty engine operating within the Agency’s secure ClearPath Libra environment—to web-enable key information transactions that resided in its green-screen application environment. The tool provides browser-based point-and-click development capabilities, which enabled GSA to modernize existing transactions and extend its applications to the Web with no back-end changes required.
Using minimal IT resources and budget dollars, GSA enhanced its high-value applications in line with end-user expectations for a modern, easy-to-use GUI. At the same time, the Agency positioned itself to readily handle future modernization efforts and extend application access to mobile users as required.
- Savings: GSA avoided spending an estimated total of $9.9 million for new application development by web-enabling, and preserving the value in, existing applications
- Innovation: Through intuitive ClearPath ePortal technology and only one week of training, the Agency delivered new capabilities well within deadlines
- Productivity: Thanks to modern front-end interfaces, users can now navigate quickly through newly enhanced applications to perform work faster
- Agility: GSA has established a flexible framework for rapidly enhancing other critical applications—and supporting potential mobile access strategies, as well
