Military Sealift Command Relies on Unisys to Help Ensure Prompt, Accurate Pay for Mariners
BLUE BELL, Pa., September 27, 2005 – The U.S. Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC) Atlantic Area of Responsibility, known as Sealift Logistics Command, Atlantic (SEALOGLANT), N6, has awarded Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) a contract to provide maintenance and enhancements of the MSC’s applications used to support daily operations of the command. The contract was awarded in June; work began in August.
Applications for which MSC requires support include the Unified Civilian-Mariner Payroll System (UCPS); the Department Heads’ Afloat Management System; (DHAMS) the Custody Material Receipt System (CRMS); and Ships’ Historical Ports and Dates and Mariner Service History (SHIPS).
Unisys will maintain archive data for the primary application, UCPS, in an accessible format, allowing for impromptu reporting and retroactive pay changes for the MSC civilian mariners. The time-and-materials contract is for one base year plus three one-year options, exercisable at the government’s discretion. The estimated value of the base year is $1,297,000. If the government exercises all options, the total value to Unisys is estimated to be $5,358,000.
