Greg Baroni, President, Unisys Global Public Sector, to Discuss Global Knowledge Sharing as Part of Panel at 15th World Congress on IT

Austin, Texas, May 1, 2006 – Greg Baroni, president, Unisys Global Public Sector, will be a key participant in “Global Knowledge Sharing,” a panel at the 2006 World Congress on Information Technology:

  •  When:
Wednesday, May 3
4:30 PM
  •  Where:
Austin Convention Center
Ballroom D, 4th Floor

As part of the privacy and security program at WCIT, Mr. Baroni will join a panel of experts to discuss the need to share information between and among governments, the tools that can help facilitate information sharing and some of the impediments that exist today – even nearly five years since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

According to Mr. Baroni, three primary issues exist with regard to worldwide information sharing:

  • Confidentiality
  • Integrity
  • Availability

“Today, we have superior technologies and processes to collect and analyze information, but the ability to turn it into actionable intelligence and disseminate it to parties who need it is constrained by concerns about protecting its secrecy,” he said.

To that end, Mr. Baroni and his fellow panelists will discuss how best to reconcile the need to share information with the concurrent need to protect it.

Mr. Baroni joined Unisys in October, 2001, as president of the company’s Global Public Sector. Representing more than a third of Unisys revenues, Global Public Sector serves its clients with a broad range of services and solutions ranging from consulting and systems integration to managed security services and outsourcing. Under his leadership, the Global Public Sector team has rapidly transformed itself into one of the global leaders in delivering extraordinary value and breakthrough results to public sector entities worldwide.

Before joining Unisys, Mr. Baroni spent nearly 20 years with KPMG, LLP/KPMG Consulting, where his last position was as senior vice president in KPMG Consulting’s Public Service Practice serving government, education, healthcare and non-profit institutions.

The Unisys Board of Directors elected Mr. Baroni, corporate officer in February, 2004. In 2005, Consulting magazine recognized him as one of the top 25 most influential consultants. Fast Company magazine also recognized him in 2003 as one of the “Fast 50,” for helping the Transportation Security Administration build a new IT infrastructure to improve security at the nation’s 445 commercial airports.
