The Importance of a Diverse Supplier Base

Unisys recognizes the importance of a diverse supplier base and its impact on the business community and population at large.

As such, we strive to meet the requirements of our corporate and government customers – not only because it is the right thing to do, but because it makes good business sense.

To this end, our goal is to reach out and identify qualified minority and woman-owned companies capable of providing products and services in our supply chain. Here are some examples of how we meet this goal:

  • Unisys serves as a National Corporate Member and supporter of the National Minority Supplier Development Council.
  • Unisys is a supporter of National Woman Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC) and encourages third party certification by the NWBOC.
  • Unisys is a regional council supporter of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) and encourages the third party certification by WBENC.
  • Unisys serves on the Board of Directors of Diversity Information Resources (formerly TRY US Publications), a publisher of minority and woman business information resources.
  • Unisys U.S. Federal Government Group has sponsored two Information Technology Small Business Opportunity Days at Unisys to foster partnerships with small, minority-owned, and woman-owned small businesses.
  • We participate, provide presentations, and serve as sponsor in numerous Business Opportunity Fairs and Conferences throughout the country. Such conferences allow M/WBE, small, small disadvantaged, and woman-owned small business concerns to have one-on-one discussions with Large Business concerning their products and services.
  • Unisys has developed a relationship with Virginia State University, a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)/Minority Institute (MI), by providing scholarship funds and internships.
SBA Business Development Unisys Federal Systems participates in the U.S. Federal Government’s Mentor-Protégé programs to provide developmental assistance to emerging small disadvantaged businesses.
